Vladimir Alexandrovich Pokrovsky was born on July 6, 1886 in Penza, Russian Federation.
Vladimir Alexandrovich graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow State University in 1922.
From 1925 to 1927 Vladimir Alexandrovich worked as an assistant at the obstetrics and gynecology clinic of the Belarusian University, and from 1927 as an assistant at the Department of obstetrics and gynecology of the Moscow Institute of maternal and child health.
In 1935, Pokrovsky was appointed to Khabarovsk as head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Far Eastern Medical Institute. Four years later he defended his doctoral thesis, a year later he was awarded the title of professor. In 1944, Vladimir Alexandrovich Pokrovsky moved to destroyed Voronezh, where he headed the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Voronezh Medical Institute.
V.A. Pokrovsky published 100 scientific works, including 6 monographs, a number of heads and sections in textbooks and the multivolume guide to obstetrics and gynecology.
Offered the classification of genital tuberculosis which gained wide recognition developed and gave anatomic justification to a technique of an infiltration anesthesia in obstetrics and gynecology. It possesses also researches on problems of clinic, classification and therapy of shock and patol, blood losses in obstetric practice. Together with pupils created pathomorphologic and clinical classification of precancerous conditions of a neck of uterus. His researches of hems on a uterus showed advantages of Cesarean section in the lower uterine segment.
Pokrovsky was distinguished by the simplicity of communication with others, his modesty in life, the ability to create a creative atmosphere in the team he led.Pokrovsky was an excellent teacher, raising young people in the best traditions of obstetric aid. He devoted a lot of time and effort to the education and training of young doctors. He did not refuse to help anyone in need at any time.
