Violet Dias Lannoy with her siblings received early education mostly in Belgaum. She graduated with honors from St. Xavier’s, Mumbay.
After graduation from college, Violet Dias Lannoy first worked with M.K.Gandhi ('The Mahatma') in the Kurukshetra Refugee Camp, and later became associated with United Nations Projects in France and in Uganda. She also worked as a school teacher and a consultant on educational policy in India, England, France, and East Africa. Lannoy was planning a collection of African folk tales at the time of her death.
