1895 graduate Saint St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy.
After graduate trained for professorship at Chair of Normal Anatomy, Saint St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy. 1898 defended doctor’s thesis on arteries feeding intervertebral ganglia and cerebrospinal nerves, after which he underwent further specialist training abroad. From 1900 professor, Chair of Anatomy, Women's Medical Institute.
From 1905 head, Chair of Normal Anatomy, Kazan’ University. 1915-1950 head, Chair of Normal Anatomy, 1915-1917 learned secretary, 1917-1925 director, 1950-1954 consulting professor, Leningrad Military Medical Academy. Did research on normal and comparative anatomy, histology and embryology with special reference to vascular system.
Was one of first sci to use x-rays for anatomical research. Made valuable contributions to morphology of blood circulation and research on regulator mechanisms of circulatory system. Was first Russian sci to approach anatomy from ontophilogenetic viewpoint.
Helped to organize anatomical museums for training purposes and developed a system of combined instruction including practical, theoretical, experimental and functional elements. Foundcr-chairman, Social of People's University. Company-founder, Committee for Improvement of Scientists’ Living Conditions.
Member, Leningrad City Soviet and Vyborg Rayon Soviet. Member or Honorary member, numerous Soviet and for medical society Trained many outstanding anatomists, including Bachelor of Arts Dolgo-Saburov, G.F. Ivanov and Anugrah Narayan Maksimenko.
Wrote over 100 works.
