After having made a thorough study of Chinese classics in her native city, she went to Peking and entered Yenching University Women's College, graduating with Bachelor of Arts degree in 1923. Miss Hsieh attended Wellesley College, U.S.A., receiving Master of Arts degree in 1926.
Miss Hsieh served as an instructor of Chinese at Yenching University, Peking, from 1926 to 1935. She was doing research work in Japan in 1935. Hsieh Wan-ying was a well-known writer of modern verses under her pen name Ping Hsin.
