Career

Commissioned November 30, 1912 and advanced through grades to brigadier general, February 1942. Served in Panama, 1913-1917. World War I, batn. and regiment commander, 17th Field Artillery 2d Division, Soissons, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, Champagne and Meuse-Argonne operations.

Instructor Commanded and General staff schedul, 1925-1928. Commander 7th Field Artillery, 1929-1930. Assistant to 3 secs. of war on affairs of Panama Canal, Inland Waterways Corporation, army engineer projects, War Department negotiations on treaty with Panama.

Director Panama R.R. & S.S. Company, 1930-1938. Commander 36th Field Artillery, 1936-1938. Georgia, chief of staff, Hawaiian Division, 1938-1941.

Army housing construction, Hawaii, 1940. Commander 26th Field Artillery Brigade, Camp Roberts, California, 1941. Artillery commander Burma, India, China, 1942, 38th Division, 1943, 24th Division, S.W. Pacific, New Guinea and Philippine operations, 1944-1945.
