Yachiro Isobe founded the Kokumin Eigakukai with an American named Eastman (1875). Later published Eiji Shimbun Kenkijuroku (Predecessor of Chugai Eigo). Proceeded to England for further studies (1899). On returning translated Kojiki, Saikontan and other Japanese and Chinese classics into English and helped thereby to introduce Japanese and Chinese classics to the world.
