Yakov Stepanovich Bazarnyi

Background

Yakov Stepanovich Bazarnyi (his pseudonym was Larshin) was born on the 21st of October, 1890 Krasnaya (sloboda), Novokhopersky County, into a family of peasants.

Education

Bazarnyi finished 2 classes of the teachers' seminary (the city of Alexandrovsk-Grushevsky, the Province of the Don Cossack Host). He graduated from the People's University named after A.L. Shanyavsky in Moscow.

Career

Yakov Stepanovich worked as a primary school teacher. In October 1917 he was the candidate for the Constituent Assembly for the Voronezh Province from the organization of the Socialist Revolutionaries. Bazarnyi was a participant of partisan and insurgent movement in the South of Russia and Ukraine, one of the leaders of the so-called Krasnyansky Uprising in July-October 1919. Yakov Stepanovich published his articles, essays and poems in the newspaper "The Voice of the Working Peasantry" (Moscow, 1918).

In the 1920s-1930s he lived in Voronezh, studied the socioeconomic history of the Voronezh peasantry. In 1926 Yakov Stepanovich was the instructor of the provincial agricultural bank, then in 1937 he worked as a statistician of the regional committee of the trade union of builders. In 1937 he was unreasonably repressed, shot.

Membership

In 1907-1917 Yakov Stepanovich Bazarnyi was a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party, then, in 1917-1920, the member of the left SR. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Left Socialist Revolutionary Party of Ukraine and member of the Left Socialist-Revolutionary Party in the All-Russia Central Executive Committee of the 2nd-5th convocations.
