Career
Chu Yao-ting worked in New York State Highways Commission as an engineer. During the years of 1923-1932, he served at different times as professor of engineering at the Water Conservancy College (Hohai) in Nanjing (Nanking), director of the Bureau of Public Works of the Hangzhou (Hangchow) Municipal Government, technical expert to the National Reconstruction Commission, and later technical expert and section head of the Department of Reconstruction of the Zhejiang (Chekiang) Provincial Government.
Mr. Chu was a director of the Navigation Bureau, Shanghai in 1933. Then he became director of the Highways Administration of the Zhejiang (Chekiang) Provincial Government.
