He graduated from Osaka University in 1939.
Yasutaka Tanikawa became assistant instructor at his alma mater, then became instructor and later assistant professor at Nagoya University.
He specialized in quantum dynamics and elementary particle theory. Yasutaka Tanikawa was conferred a doctorate of science for publishing a theory of beta collapse; reciprocal reaction of neuter meson and elementary particles; and the theory of reciprocal action of elementary particles, etc.
