While at school joined revol pupils’ circle, then engaged in underground revol work in Sormovo, Voronezh and Baku. Took part in 1905-1907 Revol. Frequently arrested; 1908 exiled to Vologda Province.
1910-1917 secretary, Khar’kov Bolshevik Organisation 1919 military comissar, Separate brigade on Southern Front. 1920-1924 trade-union and government work in Moscow.
Military comissar, Main General Military Training Board. 1924-1928 member, Military Collegium, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Court. 1928-1935 director, Polytech Museum, Lenin All-Union Library.
From 1935 worked for All-Union Book Chamber. From 1937 retired.
