In 1967 Yevgeny Nikolaevich Maksimov graduated from Moscow High Art School, in 1973 - the State V.I. Surikov Art Institute of Moscow with a specialization in fine arts, in 1982 he finished full-time assistant internship.
From 1975 to 1977 Yevgeny Nikolaevich worked as an artist-performer in the monumental workshop of artwork of Moscow Regional Art Collection of the RSFSR.
The artist's talent received public recognition back in the 1970s. After the victory in the international competition, the artist worked for 5 years on frescoes of the glorious martyr St. George Memorial Church, which commemorated the deaths of Greek Cypriots who were lost in the war (Kokkinotrimithia, Cyprus, 1991-1995), and the temple facade of the Holy Cross (Omodos, Cyprus, 1991). Mural paintings in the Optina pustin monastery (Kaluga Oblast), where he performed the frescoes of Kazan Cathedral (1996-1998) and St Volodymyr's Cathedral (1998), occupy a significant place in Maksimov's art. In 1999 he became a laureate of “Restoration-99” for the best reconstruction, restoration and construction of buildings in the historical center of Moscow.
Works on the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour constitute an important stage in the creative work of the artist. In December 1999, the reconstruction of the picturesque decoration in the Upper Temple was completed and accepted with high appreciation. Since 2000, Maksimov Y.N. oversaw the establishment of interior decoration in the five halls of the refectory of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. For the Red Hall, he wrote five large icons (120x80) with images of saints Daniel of Moscow, Dmitry Donskoy, Alexander Nevsky, Vasily Blazhenny and Matrona of Moscow, an image of the city of Moscow with the forthcoming Moscow Metropolitans Peter and Alexis.
Since 1982, Maksimov Y.N. conducts pedagogical activity in the State V.I. Surikov Art Institute of Moscow. He worked as a chair of the drawing department, head of the drawing department, assistant professor of painting and composition department. Since 2000 Professor Maksimov Y.N. (the academic title was conferred in 1999) is the head of Painting and Composition Department, is the pro-rector of the Institute for Creative and Exhibition Work, since 1990 he has been in charge of the monumental workshop, and since 2001 - the Creative Workshop of the Monumental Painting of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 1997 Yevgeny Nikolaevich headed the Department of Monumental Painting at the Faculty of Church Art at the Moscow Saint Tikhon's Orthodox University, where he still works.
Yevgeny Nikolaevich took part in creation of mosaics "Bread" (Palace of Culture, Svetlogorsk, Stavropol Krai, 1975), "Flowers and Fruits" (Experimental Plant of Consumer Electronics, Bykovo, Moscow Oblast, 1976), "Land of the Urals" (Bereznikovsky Chemical Plant, Berezniki, Perm Oblast, 1977), which were awarded prizes and diplomas by the Art Collection of the RSFSR for the best work of the year. The picturesque panel "Silly Shah" (Children's Combine, Chirchiq, Uzbekistan, 1984) and a series of tapestries "Sacred Texts" (for decorating the administrative building in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 1987-1989) are distinguished by great decorativeness and color consistency.
Yevgeny Nikolaevich successfully manages a creative group of artists. Since 1997 they have made mosaics and frescoes in the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Vyshniaky, frescoes in the Church of St. Tsarevitch Dmitry the Martyr at the Golitsynsky hospital, mosaics in the church of Ilya Muromets at the Main Headquarters of the Russian Armed Missile Forces, murals in the Church of Sisterhood in Moscow city hospital number one.
Since 1972, Yevgeny Nikolaevich is a regular participant of city, zonal, republican, all-union, federal and international exhibitions.
In 1999 Yevgeny Nikolaevich Maksimov was elected a corresponding member, and in 2000 - a member of the Russian Academy of Arts Bureau. In 2001, he became a full member and academician-secretary of the Department of Painting - has the largest number of members in the Academy, which includes eminent artists of different creative directions. Since 1984, he is a member of the Artists Union of Russia, a member of the Artists Association of the Monumental and Decorative Arts of Moscow, a member of the Painters Association of the Moscow Artists Union.
