He obtained his advanced education in the United States, where he received Bachelor of the Arts, Master of Arts, and Civil Engineering degrees from Cornell University.
Career
When Yi-chi Mei returned to China in 1916 he joined the faculty of Tsinghua College as professor of physics, which post he retained until 1929. He was director of the Chinese Educational Mission in the United States, 1929-31 and appointed President of Tsinghua University, Nov. 1981.
