Yoichiro Watanabe was born in 1898 in Niigata, Japan.
Yoichiro Watanabe graduated from Agricultural Department of Tokyo University in 1923. In addition, studied agriculture in Germany and the United States in the year 1938.
Yoichiro Watanabe became assistant and assistant professor in 1927 at his alma mater. Transferred as assistant professor to Agricultural Department of Kyoto University (1932). He promoted to professor (since 1939) and assumed additional post of member of Jimbun Kagaku Kenkyusho (Social Sciences Research Institute) of the same university (1939).
