Yong Tang is a biologist and professor whose research examined acid–base regulation, catecholamine responses, and muscle metabolism in freshwater- and seawater-adapted rainbow trout. He pursued graduate training at Dalhousie University and later taught biology at St. Mary's University and Northeastern Illinois University.
Education
Tang earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Xiamen University in 1982. He completed a Master of Science degree at Dalhousie University in 1985 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree there in 1989. His graduate research in the Department of Biology at Dalhousie University focused on physiological regulation in rainbow trout, including responses to exercise and acute acidosis.
Career
Tang began his academic teaching career as an instructor at St. Mary's University, serving during 1994–1995 and 1995–1997 and continuing in an instructor role in 1998. His subsequent academic appointment was at Northeastern Illinois University, where he was listed as an assistant professor in the Department of Biology in the 1998–1999 academic year. His research career included collaborative studies at Dalhousie University on acid–base regulation, catecholamine release, intracellular muscle pH, and lactate status in freshwater- and seawater-adapted rainbow trout.
