He graduated from Hokkaido University (1918).
Career
After serving as assistant professor became professor of his alma mater and director of Hokkaido Agricultural Experiment Station. He went to Europe and America to study pathological botany. Among his works are "An Outline of Pathological Botany", "The Diseases of the Rice Plant and Its Prevention and Elimination" and collected edition of his essays titled Sandam Kago (Stories of the Mountain and Talks on Flowers).
