Career
Was a man of valor and a marksman. After he and his father had subdued Sadato Abe at Oshu (northeastern Japan) he was appointed Lord of Dewa (part of Oshu) and commander of garrison there (1051-62). Fought for Kiyohira Fuji war a against Iehira and Takehira Kiyohara during the Gosannen War (1083-87) and destroyed them at Kanazawa fortress. He is said to have been a master strategist and could always detect an ambush by noting the flight of wild ducks. Was well liked by the warriors of shu District because of his valor and generosity. Late in life was appointed Lord of Iyo (Ehime Prefecture).
