Dou Yu-seng held the posts of the president of Chung Wai Bank, Shanghai, president of Tung Wai Bank, Shanghai, director of Commercial Bank of China, Shanghai, director of Jiangsu (Kiangsu) and Zhejiang (Chekiang) Bank, Shanghai, director of the Bank of China.
He also was a member of Amortization Fund Committee of National Loans, director of Great China University, Shanghai, founder and chairman of board of directors of the Cheng Shih Middle School, Shanghai, president of Shanghai Emergency Hospital, president of Jen Chi Hospital, Ningbo (Ningpo), director of Chinese Cotton Goods Exchange, Shanghai, director of Chartered Stock and Produce Exchange, Ltd., Shanghai, director of Chinese Electric Power Company, Shanghai.
Later Mr. Dou took up the posts of a managing director, Hua Fong Paper Manufactory, Hangzhou (Hangchow), director of China Merchants' Steam Navigation Company, Shanghai, managing director of The China Press, The China Times, The China Evening News and The Shun Shih News Agency (for a short period in 1935).
Dou Ye-seng was a director of many other Chinese commercial and public welfare organizations in Shanghai and other places in China. He was a liberal contributor towards causes of philanthrophy and education.
