In 1955 Yuri Karmazin graduated from the Kokand Petroleum Technical School with a degree in construction, in 1966 architectural faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Civil Engineering.
After graduation Yuri Karmazin was the chief architect of the city of Kirov (1966-1969). He was an assistant (1973-1974), senior lecturer (1974-1975), associate professor (1975-1994), professor (since 1994), head of the Department of Drawing and Painting (1977-1986), head of the architectural Design and Urban Planning (since 1989), dean of Architectural Faculty (1981-1986, since 1999) Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
He developed the concept of architectural-spatial organization of the coastal zone of the Voronezh reservoir. Author of more than 110 publications on topical issues of urban planning, architectural education and methods of architectural design.
