Graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School, 1901. Pupil of V. Tikhomirov and A. Gorskii.
Career
Danced with the Bolshoi Theatre until 1910. After that, toured abroad. From 1914-1925, partnered Anna Pavlova.
In 1925, opened a ballet school in Paris, and taught there until his death. Among his pupils were T. Riabushinskaia, I. Chauvire and A. Dolin. In 1946, choreographed Giselle for the Royal Danish Ballet.
