Yekaterina Geltzer was born in 1876. She is the daughter of the famous Russian dancer Vasily Geltzer.

She graduated Moscow State Academy of Choreography in 1894. While there, she was taught by I.D. Nikitin and H. Mendes.
Since 1898 up until 1935, with a few hiatuses, Geltzer had performed in Bolshoi Theatre. She had also been performing in Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg between 1896 and 1898. Geltzer had toured alot both within and outside Russia, she had also took part in Ballets Russes under Sergei Diaghilev.
Her main roles include Lise ("The Wayward Daughter" by Peter Ludwig Hertel), Naiad ("The Naiad and the Fisherman" by Cesare Pugni), Esmeralda ("La Esmeralda" by Cesare Pugni), Tsar Maiden ("The Little Humpbacked Horse" by Cesare Pugni), Medora ("Le Corsaire" by Adolphe Adam), Kitri ("Don Quixote" by Ludwig Minkus), Nikiya ("La Bayadère" by Ludwig Minkus), Princess Aurora ("The Sleeping Beauty" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky), Raymonda ("Raymonda" by Alexander Glazunov), Taï-Choa ("The Red Poppy" by Reinhold Glière) and many others.
She was touring in Voronezh in December, 1915, September, 1916, January, 1924, January, 1933, March, 1935.
She was married to her long-time onstage partner Vasily Tikhomirov, however they sometime after they got into divorce.
