In 1937, Alexey Sergeevich Polivanov graduated from the faculty of History of the Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute (currently: the Voronezh State Pedagogical University).
In 1983, he received a doctorate in History and became a doctor of historical sciences. In 1984, he became a professor of historical sciences.
From 1937 to 1941, Alexey Sergeevich Polivanov was a teacher and director of schools in the Kursk Region, the Tambov Region, and the Voronezh Region. He participated in the Second World War. From 1946 to 1947, he was the director of a secondary school in Voronezh. From 1947 to 1958, he was a teacher, secretary of the party bureau of the Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute. From 1958 to 1975, he was a teacher, an associate professor of the Department of CPSU History at the Voronezh Polytechnic Institute. From 1975 to 1988, he was an associate professor, a professor of the Department of CPSU History at the Voronezh Forestry Engineering Institute.
Alexey Sergeevich is the author of over 30 works, including such books as "Revolutionary events in Voronezh in 1917" (Voronezh, 1967), "Voronezh Polytechnic Institute: A Brief Overview of Development and Activities" (Voronezh, 1971), "Activities of Party Organizations Central Chernozemic region for the restoration and development of industry 1946-1958" (Voronezh, 1975), "Party leadership in socialist competition in the industry of the Central Black Earth Region (1946-1958)" (Voronezh, 1983).
Alexey Sergeevich Polivanov was a great Soviet historian, doctor, and professor of historical sciences. He is famous for his contribution to the study of the Central Black Earth Economic Region.
