Andrey Yakovlevich studied at the Faculty of Music at the Moscow Conservatory in the violin class from 1931 to 1934.
Andrey Yakovlevich was choir and orchestra director of collective farm "Put' Lenina" of Zarechensky Village Council of Buturlinovsky District from 1934 to 1936. He lived and worked as a teacher at a pedagogical school in Bobrov from 1947 and from 1951, a regional cultural and educational school. Andrey Yakovlevich took charge of the oldest amateur choir in Russia, which was created in 1920. In 1958, he took charge of Bobrov Academic Choral Chapel. The team led by Serdyukov received the People's title in 1958. It became the winner of many festivals including the All-Russian Show of Rural Amateur Performances in 1965, performed on stage of the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, the Bolshoi Theater, and the Concert Hall named after P.I. Tchaikovsky. The chapel’s repertoire included works by V. Mozart, C. Saint-Saens, I. Strauss, S. Rachmaninov, A. Varlamov, V. Shebalin, A. Novikov and other composers. Andrey Yakovlevich worked together with K.I. Massalitinov on many concert programs including suite "The Land of Koltsov" in the 1950-1970s.
