Antonio Echavarren

Education

He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in 1982.

Career

Since 1992 he is a full professor at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, where he heads the Research Group on Organometallic Chemistry Directed Towards Organic Synthesis. Since 2004 he is working as Group Leader at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ). He was the Liebig Lecturer at the German Chemical Society (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker) in 2006.

Professor Echavarren, group leader at ICIQ, is a recipient of the prestigious 2015 Arthur C. Cope Scholar Awards given by the American Chemical Society.

Achievements

• In 2004 Echavarren was awarded the Prize in Organic Chemistry by the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry.

Membership

He is a member of the Editorial Board of ChemCatChem since 2009 and a member of the International Advisory Board of the European Journal of Organic Chemistry since 2006, of ChemSusChem since 2007, and of Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry since 2008.
