Antonis Modinos was born on January 18, 1938, on Cyprus. He is a son of Evris Modinos, an accountant, and Penelope Modinos.
Antonis Modinos received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1960. In a couple of years, he obtained a Master of Science degree at the University of Manchester which was followed by a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics in 1964.
Antonis Modinos joined the staff of the National Technical University of Athens in 1989. Since then, he has served as a professor of physics at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics.
