Mayor, 1886, 1887,1888,1889, and 1898. M.L.A., Warwick, 1887, 1888, 1893, 1898, 1899, 1902. Chairman of Committee of the Legislative Assembly, 1891.
Chairman Royal Commission on Local Government, 1896. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, 1898-1903. Premier, Chief Secretary, and Minister for Railways, 1903-1906. President Legislative Council, Queensland, since 1906.
