Avedikt Lukyanovich Mazlumov was born on November 30, 1896 in the city of Simferopol, Russian Federation.
In 1923, Avedikt Lukyanovich graduated from the Voronezh Agricultural Institute (now Voronezh State Agricultural University). In 1956 he became an academician of the All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences named after V.I. Lenin.
Since 1922, Avedikt Lukyanovich was employed as a trainee, intern, researcher. During 1933-1967 was the head of the breeding department of the Ramon Experimental Breeding Station (since 1959, the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Sugar Beet and Sugar). In the years 1930-1933 he worked in the Far East to create a base for beet-growing there. Avedikt Lukyanovich was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR from the Voronezh Region (1963-1967).
Produced over 50 new strains of sugar beet. Winner of multiple prestigious awards and prizes, including Hero of Socialist Labour(1956), Lenin Prize (1965), State Award of the USSR (1946, 1952).
