In 2003 she published Media Matrix: Sexing the New Reality. Her 2005 book Phallic Panic: Film, Horror & the Primal Uncanny looks at the figures of Frankenstein, Dracula and Jack the Ripper and argues that these very male monsters are, using Freud"s terms, aligned with the primal uncanny. In 2013, Barbara creed founded the Human Rights and Animal Ethics Research Network at the University of Melbourne.
In 2006 Creed was elected to The Australian Academy of the Humanities.
Her doctoral research was published by Routledge in 1993 as The Monstrous-Feminine: Film, Feminism and Psychoanalysis.
