Lydia Sidorova graduated with honors from the Novosibirsk Medical Institute.
In 1958, Lidia Dmitrievna defended her thesis on "Permeability of blood capillaries and the total protein of blood serum in patients with lung abscesses", and in 1968 - a doctoral thesis on "Acute leukemia, clinic, diagnosis, treatment."
Lydia Sidorova worked as a clinical intern at the Department of Hospital Therapy. From 1952 to 1971 she was an associate professor of the department. From 1977 to 2001, Lydia Sidorova was in charge of the Department of Hospital Therapy. Since 2002 - Professor of this department. From 1985 to 1990, she was the chief scientific secretary of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, from 1990 to 2000 - Deputy Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, since 2002 - Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine of the Novosibirsk State Medical Academy, member of the Presidium of the SB RAMS.
An important place in the scientific activity of Lydia Sidorova is concerned with the problem of pulmonology - the study of the spread of lung diseases in Western Siberia. She is the author of more than 400 scientific works. The most important publications are "Nonspecific lung diseases in Western Siberia" (1982), "Chronic and structural metabolic features of atrophic forms of chronic bronchitis" (1994), "Clinical, immunological and bronchoscopic characteristics of late asthma" (2000), "Intra-hospital pneumonia: features of etiology, clinical course, morphology and therapy"(2002),"Peculiarities of bronchial inflammatory changes in patients with late asthma"(2002),"Prediction and outcome of nosocomial pneumonia" (2003). Has 3 copyright certificates for inventions.
In 1982, Lydia Sidorova was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, and in 1993 she became a full member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.Lydia Sidorova - Chairman of the Novosibirsk Regional Scientific Society of Physicians (1977), Member of the Board of the European Respiratory Society (1985), Member of the Board of Scientific Societies: Therapeutic, Nephrological, Pulmonology (1991), Member of the Clemency Commission of the Novosibirsk Region Administration (2002) . From 1985 to 1990 Lydia Sidorova was a member of the Presidium of the Committee of Women of the Soviet Union and at the same time the chairman of the Regional Council of Women.
