Beomkeun Kim

Background

Kim was born on October 17, 1968 in Seoul, South Korea; the son of Sunhoon Kim and Guiyeol Hur.

Education

Kim received a Bachhelor of Science degree in physics from Yonsei University in 1991. Three years later he earned his Master of Science degree in aeronatics and astronautics from Stanford University. In 1998, Beomkeun was given a Ph.D. in aeronatics and astronautics from the same university.

Career

Kim began his career as a research assistant at Stanford University in 1993 and had held the position for eight years. In 1999, he became a senior research engineer at Hyudai Motor Company. Since 2005 Beomkeun has been an associate professor at Inje University. Also since 2011, he has served as a visiting scholar of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas.

Achievements

• Kim is known for his publications, including "Effects of surface texturing on the frictional behavior of cast iron surfaces", "Durability improvement of automotive V-belt pulley" and others.

Kim is a member of Korean Society for Composite Materials, Society of Automotive Engineers International, Korean Society of Aeronautical & Space Sciences, Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers and Korean Society of Automotive Engineers.
