Alexey Iraklievich Levshin graduated from Voronezh gymnasium in 1813 and from the University of Kharkov in 1816.
In 1823-1831 Alexey Iraklievich Levshin was an officer on special assignments for the Novorossky and Bessarabian General-Governor M.S. Vorontsov. In 1827-1832 he participated in the creation of the newspaper "The Odessa Herald" and was one of its editors.
In 1831-1837 Alexey Iraklievich Levshin was the Odessa town Governor. Since 1855 he was a Senator. In 1861 he took an active part in the preparation of the peasant reform. In 1866 he was an Actual Privy Councilor.
