At the time of Gvozdovich's graduation, Nizhny Novgorod was known as Gorky.
Since 1953, Boris Gvozdovich was working as a teacher of German at Voronezh State Univeristy for nearly 50 years. By 1970, he became a Candidate of Philological Sciences. By 1987, he achieved the rank of Associate Professor.
Besides his teaching career, Gvozdovich began collecting stamps in 1953, and eventually became a known philantropist in Russia. He has been a member of USSR Philatelist Association since 1957. Since 1992, he had been the president of Voronezh Philatelist Association.
He wrote around 50 articles about collectorship in "Kommuna" periodical and "Philately" magazine of Moscow.
