Boris Gdalevich Okunev

Background

Okunev Boris Gdalevich was born on the 6th of May, 1927 in Voronezh, Russian Federation, into a family of officers.

Education

From 1939 to 1940 he attended art studio named N.I. Capper. In 1946, he entered the Tomsk State University, but he did not finish his studies because was unreasonably repressed in 1947, and sentenced to 5 years of forced labor camps. In spite of this Boris Okunev managed to get higher education. He graduated from the philological department of the Faculty of History and Philology of the Voronezh State University in 1958.

Career

After graduating from Voronezh State university Boris Gdalevich continued to work at the university as a teacher of Russian Literature. He was a researcher of the Voronezh Regional Museum of Local Lore and of the Voronezh Regional Museum of Fine Arts. In 1976 started to work as an Associate Professor of the Voronezh State Institute of Arts.
