Chikamitsu Yuki was born in 1311. He was the second son of Munchiro. Also known by the personal name, Kuro.
Chikamitsu Yuki distinguished himself during the Genko Incident when he seized Akasaka Castle and then hurried to protect the Shogunate's office in Kyoto from being attacked (1331). Later under orders from Prince Morinaga, he joined Norimura Akamatsu in the latter's revolt against the Shogunate and once again distinguished himself (1333). During the Kemmu Restoration he first defeated the combined armies of Ujiyuki Hojo and Takauji Ashikaga, but was later himself defeated at Seta after Takauji counterattacked Kyoto. As a result of this defeat Emperor Godaigo fled to Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei (1335). Yuki pretended surrender to Takauji and stayed on in Kyoto, while waiting for an opportunity to assassinate Takauji. Takauji, however suspected Yuki's sincerity and sent Sadanori Otomo to check on him. As Sadanori discovered the truth Yuki killed him, but he was in turn cut down by the former's soldiers.
