Taira no Tsunemori was born in 1124. He was the 3rd son of Taira no Tadamori and a younger half-brother of Taira no Kiyomori.

Taira no Tsunemori was born in 1124. He was the 3rd son of Taira no Tadamori and a younger half-brother of Taira no Kiyomori.
Taira no Tsunemori held the Third Court Rank and the post of Chief Steward to the Empress Dowager. He was appointed Sangi (Court Counselor) (1181). After the Battle of Dannoura he is said to have fled into the mountains and became a Buddhist priest.
He committed suicide with his younger brother Taira no Norimori at the Battle of Dan-no-ura at the end of the Genpei War.
He was a waka poet and a good flute player.
