Cynthia Zimmerman was born on January 8, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her parents were Louis Zimmerman, a social worker, and Ann (Rosen) Zimmerman, a homemaker.

Education

Cynthia Zimmerman attended the University of British Columbia. She then received her Bachelor of Arts in 1965, a Master of Arts in 1967, and a Ph.D. in 1977 from the University of Toronto.

Career

Cynthia Zimmerman worked as a lecturer at York University in Toronto, Ontario from 1967 to 1974, then as an assistant professor from 1974 to 1981, and in 1981 became an associate professor of English.

Besides, she wrote a number of books, including "The Work: Conversations with English Canadian Playwrights" (together with R. Wallace) and "Playwriting Women: Female Voices in English Canada" (1994).
