In 1952 Diana graduated from the Saratov Musical College in harp and then studied at the Saratov Conservatory and did her internship at the Moscow Conservatory (1956-1958, class of Professor K.K. Saradzheva). In 1976 she graduated from the Choreographic Department of the Moscow State Institute of Culture.
In 1954-1991 Diana Balanovskaya was a soloist of the Voronezh Symphony Orchestra and, at the same time, a teacher at the Children's Art School No. 1 (1963-1985).
There have been more than 20 personal exhibitions of Balanovskaya as a designer-florist. Diana Yakovlevna made the decorations for the play "The Barmaid from the Disco. Confessions (Barmensha is Diskoteki. Ispoved’)" at the Voronezh Drama Theater (1988), the concert halls of Voronezh, Moscow, Saint Petersburg .
