Dmitry Danilovich graduated from the Smolensk Institute of Teachers (1938). He graduated from the Military Pedagogical Institute named after M. Kalinin in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) (1949).
During 1938-1939 Dmitry Danilovich worked as a teacher, then served in the army. During 1949-1955 he was a senior lecturer in the department of Marxism-Leninism of the Higher Naval School in Vladivostok, during 1955-1957 Dmitry worked at Tomsk Polytechnic Institute. Lappo used to be a lecturer, an associate professor of the department of History of the Soviet Society of Voronezh State University (1960-1987).
