Education
Going to Edo (1833), he studied Dutch under Yoan Udagawa and Kaien Udagawa. He then studied Western medicine in Nagasaki.
Career
He became a physician of the Ko- kura Clan (1850) and of the Shogunate (1860). Was appointed deputy director of the Numazu Hospital, Shizuoka Prefecture, (1869) then director of the Osaka Medical School and a Court physician.
