Ekaterina graduated from Lenin Moscow State Pedagogical Institute (1990), majoring in Teaching (Russian Language and Literature), Moscow State Open University, majoring in Jurisprudence. In 1996, she defended her thesis on "State legal protection of cultural property: A Comparative Analysis of Russian and French Legislation".
In 1990-1993 Ekaterina was a teacher of Russian language and literature. Since 1993 she was a teacher at the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation. In 1997 she was transferred to the central office of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. Since Dec. 2004, she worked as the head of the Office of Legal Support and International Cooperation, since May 2006, she was the head of the Office of International Cooperation of the Federal Migration Service. On the 16th of July, 2008, she was appointed Deputy Director of the Federal Migration Service.
Ekaterina is married, and has a daughter.
