Graduate Carthage (Missouri) High School, 1903. Studied violin with Ralph Wylie, Kansas City, Adolph Weidig, American Conservatory, Chicago, Issay Barmas, Berlin, Germany, Samuel Gardner, Institute of Musical Art, New York. Studied theory with Rossetter Cole, Chicago.
