Evgenia Borisovna Artemenko was born on December 16, 1929, in Voronezh, Russian Federation. From the family of an employee.
She graduated from the secondary railway school No. 4 (1948), the philological department of the History and Philology Faculty of the Voronezh State University (1953).
Since the beginning of 1957, Artemenko has been working at the Voronezh State Pedagogical University: assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor, dean of the History and Philology Department (1962-1964), head of the Russian Language Department (1978-1985), department of general linguistics and methods of teaching the Russian language (1992-2000), professor of the same department (since 2000). He learns the language of Russian folklore. Head of the Voronezh Scientific School of Linguistic Folklore. Member of the Council on Folklore at the Department of History and Philology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Member of the editorial board of the scientific almanac "Traditional Culture", published by the State Republican Center of Russian Folklore (Moscow).
