Evgeny Alekseevich Luzhnikov was born on September 27, 1934 in Moscow City, Russian Federation; the son of Luzhnikov Alexei Fedorovich (1907-1963) and Luzhnikova Natalia Vasilievna (1909).
In 1952-1954 E. Luzhnikov studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, then at the Moscow Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages, 1955-1959.Then he graduated from the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute named after Pirogov, 1954-1960. In 1967 E. Luzhnikov defended his Ph.D., in 1971 - his doctoral dissertation.
Evgeny worked as a visiting surgeon at the ambulance station from 1960 to 1963. From 1964 to 1972 E. Luzhnikov was an assistant, then an associate professor of hospital therapy at the 1st Moscow Medical Institute named after I. M. Sechenov. Since 1972 Yevgeny Alekseevich has been leading the scientific department and the Moscow City Center of Acute Poisoning in the Moscow Research Institute of Emergency Care named after N. V. Sklifosovsky. Since 1986 he also heads the Department of Clinical Toxicology of the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.
In 1963 E. Luzhnikov organized the first specialized toxicological department in Russia, and in 1972 - the first scientific department in the Scientific Emergency Research Institute named after N. V. Sklifosovsky.
The results of scientific research of Luzhnikov are reflected in more than 520 works, including 20 monographs. Among them: the first in Russia textbook for medical schools and a guide for physicians in clinical toxicology - "Clinical toxicology" (1982, 1994, 1999) and "Acute poisoning" (1989, 2000), and "Fundamentals of intensive care in acute poisoning" (1977 ), "Detoxication Therapy" (1999), "Urgent Therapy of Acute Poisoning and Endotoxicosis" (2001), "Emergency Conditions in Acute Poisoning" (2001), "Physiotherapy for Acute Poisoning" (2002).
In 1993, E. A. Luzhnikov was elected a corresponding member, and in 2004 - a full member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. He is also a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Technological Sciences (1992), a member of the European Association of Clinical Toxicologists (1992), deputy chairman of the board of the All-Russian Society of Toxicologists (1995).
Evgeny is married and has a son.
