A book of poetry. The author. Franco Betti, a native of Florence, Italy, came to the U.S. as a young man in 1957. In 1961 he received a Bachelor Degree in Italian from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1967 he received a Ph. D. in Romance Languages and Literature, U.C. Berkeley, with a specialization in Italian literure of the XVIIIth century. He has been teaching Italian literature at UCLA since 1965. He was Chairman of the Italian department at UCLA from 1985 to 1990. In 1976 he was made Cavaliere All'Ordine Del Merito Della Republica in recognition of his achievements in the field of Italian Studies.
