Education
He graduated from Tokyo University in 1894.
Career
He was professor at the Third Higher School in Kyoto in 1897 and then assistant professor at Tokyo University in 1900. Was appointed member of the Education Ministry's judging committee for its annual fine arts exhibitions in 1907. Wrote books on Japanese classic literature and fine arts. He was known as a writer of beautiful prose.
