Kyoji Suehiro was born in 1877 in Tokyo, Japan.
He graduated from the Shipbuilding Section, Tokyo University.
Kyoji Suehiro appointed assistant professor at the university (1902) and later professor. Taught at the university for 30 years. An expert on applied dynamics, he studied especially the strength and oscillation of the ship hull.
He helped establish and headed the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Research Institute and the Seismological Institute of Tokyo University.
He died soon after a lecturing tour of the United States he made at the invitation of American scientific circles (1931).
His theories on those subjects are known internationally. His research in oscillations extended to machinery and earthquakes, bringing a new epoch in engineering seismology and affording valuable suggestions for construction of buildings.
His turbine-balancing and tenacity gauging devices were also his outstanding contributions.
