Georgy Vladimirovich Antyukhin

Background

Georgy was born on July 29, 1922, Voronezh, Russian Federation. Antyukhin came from a working-class background.

Education

From 1940 to 1941 Antyukhin was a military school cadet in Riga. He participated in the Great Patriotic War. In 1950 he graduated from the philological department of the School of History and Philology of Voronezh State University.

Career

From 1950 to 1955 he was a Higher Senior Officer of the State Archive of the Voronezh Region; and from 1956 to 1958 – a criticism and journalism subeditor of the magazine "Pod’yom". Since 1960 Antyukhin worked at the School Philology of Voronezh State University. In 1984 Antyukhin became a Head of the professorial chair of the history of journalism and journalistic skill, and in 1989 he became its professor.

Achievements

• Georgy Antyukhin was the author of about 300 published works, including more than 10 books published in Voronezh. He was one of the establishers of the School of Journalism in Voronezh State University. He was also the organizer of the All-Russian Conference on the History of the Local Press.
