Georgy Gelovani is theatrical plays producer, who worked in theatres of Tbilisi, Kishinev, Tashkent and Tomsk. In the period of 1977-1983 he acted as the chief director of Voronezh Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Major plays directed by Gelovani include George Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess", Giuseppe Verdi's "Don Carlos", Pyotr Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta", Otar Taktakishvili's "First Love", Gioachino Rossini's "The Barber of Seville", Charles Gounod's "Faust" and other.
Georgy is the co-author of libretto opera "Vivat Russia!" by Gennady Stavonin
Since 1983 he has been the Head of Opera Troupe of Bolshoi Theatre.
