He studied at the piano department of the Vitebsk Music School (until 1941).Laphcynsky is a participant of the Great Patriotic War. He graduated from the theoretical-composer department of the music school at the Leningrad Conservatory (1947), the historical-theoretical faculty of the Leningrad Conservatory (1952), and the graduate school (1956).
He worked as head of the Petrozavodsk Philharmony (1952-1956), inspector-editor of the Ministry of Culture of Karelia (1956-1966). Rector of the Petrozavodsk branch of the Leningrad Conservatory (1967-1971). Georgy had been living in Voronezh since 1971, used to be Vice Rector of Research, Head of the Department of History and Theory of Music, Voronezh State Academy of Arts (1971-1988). Chairman of the Voronezh Composer (1984).
He is the author of over 100 works on the history of music, including books: “The Musical Culture of Karelia” (Leningrad, 1968), “The Music of Soviet Karelia” (Petrozavodsk, 1970), “The State Musical Building, in the USSR. 20-30s ”(Voronezh, 1990), as well as articles on the Voronezh material in the journals“Podym”and“SovetskayaMuzyka”.
He was married. In May 1999 (after the death of his wife) he returned in Petrozavodsk.
