Gordon was born on October 18, 1888, in Charlestown, Maryland, United States.

Education

He received his education at Curtis High School in New York City. Then he finished the Cooper Institute.

Career

Since 1909 till 1919, he worked as an engineer in charge of electrical laboratories at the Electrical Testing Laboratories in New Your City. He arrived in China in 1920, where he started working as a teacher of electrical engineering at Nanyang College of Chiao Tung University.
