Grigoriy Grigorievich Kiyashko

Background

Grigoriy Grigorievich Kiyashko was born on January 21, 1919 in Velikaya Bogachka village, Mirgorod district, Poltava Region, Ukraine. He was a peasant.

Education

He graduated from Higher Officer Armored School (1944), Military Armored Forces Academy (1956).

Career

Grigoriy Grigorievich participated in the Soviet-Finnish War (1939-1940) and the Great Patriotic War. He was a company commander of the 45th Guards Tank Regiment (3rd guards mechanized corps, 3rd Belorussian Front). He distinguished himself in the battle for Krasnoe village (Molodechno District, Minsk Region) on July 2, 1944. He was a retired colonel since 1964. He lived in Voronezh, worked as an engineer at various factories of the city.

Achievements

A stele was erected in the village of Krasnoe in honor of the liberators. In 2003, a memorial tablet was set on the building of the house in Voronezh, where Grigoriy Grigorievich Kiyashko used to live (Mira Street, 3).
